Symbolism - Athene is the god of love and beauty. Foreshadow - When Arachne had said "I, I am the greatest weaver in all the world. The greatest since the world began, no doubt. In fact, I can weave better than Athene herself." We all know that gods are very critical when they are told that they are not the best. We all knew Athene was going to react to this.
